Experience
I have a PhD in Experimental Psychology and began my career in 2012 as an Assistant Professor at the College of St. Scholastica in Minnesota. I returned to Chico in 2016 and taught part-time at Chico State and Yuba College, and conducted institutional research at Butte College. I left Chico State and Butte College in 2018 directing my energies towards distance learning, and began teaching online and working as a subject matter expert where I created online courses for various higher education companies. Over the years I have taught numerous sections of general psychology, cognition, research methods, and statistics. Other courses I have taught are developmental (Lifespan) psychology, social psychology, and seminars on the brain, mind, and behavior. Although not listed on this site for tutoring, I can help with cognitive psychology, research methods and experimentation, SPSS, APA style papers, and scientific writing for the social sciences. My expertise is in learning, memory, and language. I have have additional experience as a content specialist in statistics for educational companies constructing statistics courses for online formats. I have comprehensive knowledge of memory and learning theories. The majority of high schools in the US do not teach students memory strategies. And the ones that are taught are often INCORRECT. This leaves many students woefully under prepared. Any effective study strategy must take into account how memory works as well as its limitations, and there are simple, empirically supported strategies, that will increase understanding and therefore memory when applied correctly.

"I believe that what I teach is important but it doesn't mean we can't have fun while doing it." I like staying active and I enjoy riding motorcycles, bicycles, snowboarding, wake boarding, comedies, playing basketball, and spending time with my two amazing daughters.
